CLF Rider Levels Program

  • A walk/trot lesson designed for riders that are just starting their riding adventure. The focus is on learning riding skills as they develop the muscle and balance required to handle a horse or pony. Students will learn basic terminology used in horsemanship. We can provide a loaner riding helmet to riders just starting out for their first month in our beginner lessons. We recommend pairing this lesson level with our Country Lane Club program.

The focus is on improving their riding skills as they develop the muscle and balance required to handle a horse or pony. Students will learn basic terminology used in horsemanship. We recommend pairing this lesson level with our Country Lane Club program.

  • Students will continue working on correct body position and proper handling of the horse. Riders will learn to recognize the correct diagonal at the trot, perform circles, figure eights, and obstacle courses to challenge their abilities and build a strong foundation. We recommend pairing this lesson level with our Country Lane Club program.

  • This lesson will bring riders their first experience with cantering. Students will practice control at the canter, be introduced to cantering as a group, and will learn about leads at the canter. They will work on upward and downward transitions. We recommend pairing this lesson level with our Country Lane Club program.

  • This lesson will bring riders their first experience with jumping. Students will continue to practice control at the canter. They will work on upward and downward transitions and will jump their first cross-rails in preparation for their advancement to Beginning Jump. We recommend pairing this lesson level with our Country Lane Club program.

  • Students will learn to ride straight lines, use their arena, and square their corners in order to beautifully execute a full course of cross-rails. Flying lead changes will be introduced. Rider is responsible to tack/untack their horse.

  • In this class, students will continue to use their skills and improve their riding ability. They will work over higher jumps to a maximum of 2’6 that will consist of verticals, bending lines and rollbacks. Riders at our Intermediate Jump level is responsible to tack/untack their horse. Once our riders have completed this level they are ready to lease or own their own horse and move on to our show stables program.

  • The next step for riders interested in getting more serious about training and beginning to compete.  Rider is expected to lease or purchase a horse, participate in three to four lessons per week, and participate in local show competitions.While you are on the road to horse ownership, or simply exploring options, we can help match you with a horse that will keep you riding and in the show ring.For those interested in a little more than just lessons, Country Lane Farm offers leasing and has several quality, safe horses for lease for various skill levels.
