Boarding

Your horses health and happiness is our priority.

Feed & Supplements.

Your horse will be fed a quality hay (or alfalfa pellets) three times daily: in the morning, at lunch, and in the evening.

For concentrates, we offer complete horse pellets and beet pulp (note: beet pulp will be unavailable during the hot summer months due to potential for spoilage).

If your horse requires supplements or medication, you will be responsible to supply them in baggies labelled clearly with the horses name. These must be placed in the labeled Tupperware containers in the feed room. Please provide only one week of supplements at a time, and baggies should be reused or put into recycling.

Stabling & Turn-Out.

Weather permitting, your horse will be assigned and turned out into a paddock everyday. Paddocks are cleaned daily and waterers checked for cleanliness. Stalls are cleaned daily and waterer checked and cleaned as necessary. If the weather is not suitable for turnout, CLF staff will pick the manure out of the stall at the end of the day.

During the winter, should the water freeze, we will supply a fresh bucket of water with the morning, lunch feed and evening feed. Buckets are topped-up after hours, if needed. Paddock waterers are turned off to avoid damage from freezing as required; we limit the time horses are outside, accordingly, so they can access water in their stalls.

Summer Fields.

In the summer months, grass fields are available and horses that are able to stay out overnight will be given field priority. We make every effort to ensure your horse is turned out with another compatible horse or pony. Horses that cannot be turned out with others will be assigned to single fields, depending on availability.

  • Please have a fly sheet on your horse and you spray for bugs if necessary.

  • Staff apply rain sheets if we are expecting light precipitation.

  • Hooks located in stalls for rain sheet storage; label blankets clearly with your horse’s name; staff return these to your horse's stall when weather has improved.

  • Horses brought into the barn if inclement weather expected for an extended period of time.

  • In the fields, horses will be fed supplements with pellets and hay when the grass is low; please limit supplements to once a day, if possible.
